Our client is seeking a PICK Programmer to join their organization. The PICK Programmer is primarily responsible for the design, development and maintenance of software using the PICK development platform.
PICK Programmer Responsibilities
Assist computer operators and/or system analysts in resolving problems with running computer programs.
Mentor other PICK programmers.
Design and maintain solutions between departmental systems; communicate effectively with other departments to understand their support needs.
Evaluate user needs for new or revised systems.
Responsible for achieving operational program status within required time parameters and with an acceptable operating performance.
Develop automated recurring system reports and statements; provide one-off reports and statements as requested.
Collaborate with IT staff to automate manual processes.
Provide creative solutions and innovations in work related situations to mitigate risks to project success.
Produce program and system documentation for systems created within the department.
Foster and maintain an open, professional relationship between IT and other departments.
Other duties as assigned.
PICK Programmer Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field a plus.
Experience with SQL in order to facilitate communication with SQL developers.
Minimum 10 years of experience in PICK programming required:
Expert with PICK BASIC.
Expert with PICK database systems.
Expert with PICK TCL.
Strong Experience with jBASE.
Experience with UNIX shell basics (any flavor).
Experience with EDI.
Experience with Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be analytical, able to concentrate and detail-oriented.
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with ability of doing quick analysis of complex problems with effective and efficient solutions.
Experience with producing programs and system documentation.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret business requirements, system documentation, and technical procedures.
Ability to work independently and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well with others and in team environment; collaborate with other PICK programmers to implement solutions.
