PICK Programmer

Our client is seeking a PICK Programmer to join their organization. The PICK Programmer is primarily responsible for the design, development and maintenance of software using the PICK development platform.

PICK Programmer Responsibilities
  • Assist computer operators and/or system analysts in resolving problems with running computer programs.
  • Mentor other PICK programmers.
  • Design and maintain solutions between departmental systems; communicate effectively with other departments to understand their support needs.
  • Evaluate user needs for new or revised systems.
  • Responsible for achieving operational program status within required time parameters and with an acceptable operating performance.
  • Develop automated recurring system reports and statements; provide one-off reports and statements as requested.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to automate manual processes.
  • Provide creative solutions and innovations in work related situations to mitigate risks to project success.
  • Produce program and system documentation for systems created within the department.
  • Foster and maintain an open, professional relationship between IT and other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PICK Programmer Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field a plus.
  • Experience with SQL in order to facilitate communication with SQL developers.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in PICK programming required:
  • Expert with PICK BASIC.
  • Expert with PICK database systems.
  • Expert with PICK TCL.
  • Strong Experience with jBASE.
  • Experience with UNIX shell basics (any flavor).
  • Experience with EDI.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be analytical, able to concentrate and detail-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with ability of doing quick analysis of complex problems with effective and efficient solutions.
  • Experience with producing programs and system documentation.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business requirements, system documentation, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with others and in team environment; collaborate with other PICK programmers to implement solutions.
