Sr. DevOps Engineer (GCP or Azure)

Great opportunity to join a SaaS technology company as a Sr. DevOps Engineer! There are 2 openings: one with our GCP-based product and one with our Azure-based product. You will lead the implementation and management of our DevOps practices, focusing on leveraging Azure & GCP environments. You will join a team of 5 onshore DevOps Engineers and will also work with our offshore DevOps team based in India.

This is a 6 to 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity.

You can work 100% remotely, but must be able to travel to Dallas, TX once per quarter. You can live anywhere in EST or CST zones, but candidates based in Dallas are preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the deployment and management of DevOps practices across Azure & GCP, utilizing Kubernetes for orchestration to ensure robust, scalable service deployment.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate the consistent, secure provisioning of cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, develop technical specifications, and implement solutions that enhance security, streamline workflows, and provide clear visibility into our systems.
  • Oversee technology and software development projects, ensuring they align with DevOps principles and infrastructure engineering practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to project teams, leveraging your Azure, GCP, and Kubernetes expertise to foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Develop and maintain tools and processes to automate repetitive tasks, focusing on CI/CD pipelines to facilitate high-velocity delivery and reduce manual interventions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using automation and DevOps best practices to enhance system resilience and operational productivity.
  • Implement advanced CI/CD practices integrated with Azure & GCP to ensure the continuous delivery and deployment of software applications.
  • Work closely with Development teams to optimize the release process, ensuring fast and error-free deployments through automated pipelines.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, focusing on enhancements in cloud platforms and Kubernetes.
  • Adopt and advocate for advanced monitoring solutions like Dynatrace to effectively monitor applications and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 7+ years as a DevOps Engineer, or 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer if you have a CS Degree from a top-tier university
  • Well-rounded DevOps Engineering experience wearing multiple hats (deployment, monitoring, SRE, platform management, mentoring, project mgmt, etc.)
  • 3+ years of strong GCP or Azure experience
  • Experience working for a SaaS company
  • 3+ years of Kubernetes in a production environment
  • 3+ years of Terraform in a production environment
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience
  • Experience ensuring continuous, high-velocity delivery and automated deployment through software provisioning, config. mgmt, source code mgmt, and team collaboration apps
  • Proficiency in developing automation scripts in Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud monitoring software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams and promoting collaboration
