Akkodis is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer in Garden, City, NY (Contract-to-Hire).
Ideally, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for planning and designing product applications and machinery, particularly in the context of heat exchanger manufacturing processes. This role involves organizing complex activities related to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of these processes. The engineer will apply continuous improvement methods to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
Apply continuous improvement methods, such as lean manufacturing, to improve quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
Design, install, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, and product design.
Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness, including purchasing equipment, materials, or parts, and preparing documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards, including troubleshooting new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
Develop sustainable manufacturing technologies and analyze the financial impacts of sustainable manufacturing.
Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
Develop, document, and implement standard work instructions for critical manufacturing operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
3-5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering.
Experience in metal fabrication, welding, and/or brazing of pressure-containing products.
Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as Military, Aerospace, Nuclear, Automotive, or similar.
Computer literacy in an MRP system (Oracle a plus) and Microsoft Office.
Highly technical and analytical skills (e.g., drawings, schematics, layout).
Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
Pay Rate: 60-70/hr
