Akkodis is seeking a Senior CAD Layout Engineer- for a hybrid long term contract position with a client located in Dearborn, Michigan. Join our team and contribute to the efficient and accurate planning of assembly processes, ensuring that materials are correctly fed into the line and all layouts are optimized for productivity and automation.
Layout Planning: Take input from Mechanical Engineers (MEs) and Industrial Engineers (IEs) to determine where materials will be fed into the assembly line.
Utilize Autodesk AutoCAD 2024 for creating model and paper space modes.
Produce construction installation and station rearrangement layouts.
Create section and elevation drawings depicting the layout of new equipment.
Coordination and Collaboration: Lead in-depth layout prep meetings, typically lasting around 2 hours once a week.
Drive discussions to establish layout setups and automation processes.
Ensure all controllers and tooling are accurately represented in CAD layouts.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary design adjustments.
Part Allocation: Allocate parts to specific stations with assigned part numbers and ensure they are accurately depicted in CAD drawings.
Discuss cycle time efficiency and adjust as needed.
Documentation and Detailing: Translate field sketches, record drawings, as-built drawings, photographs, and verbal/written information into 2-D AutoCAD drawings.
Prepare clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches.
Conduct field checks of existing plants and update cycle line layouts accordingly.
Meeting Facilitation: Run cycle line layout meetings to review station layouts for new programs and support equipment and tooling installations.
Update material parts numbers per cycle line layout meetings.
Development and Support: Develop station rearrangement layouts and drawings for bid packages or plant skilled trades.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (they are using the 2024 version).
Advanced knowledge of civil, structural, architectural, and electrical CAD detailing.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Strong time management, communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Experience in BiW (Body in White) or Final Assembly is a plus.
Background in launch and installation processes is helpful.
Ideal Candidate:
At least 5 years of experience in layout design for assembly processes.
Excellent communication skills for stakeholder collaboration and driving layout discussions.
Ability to manage and coordinate detailed layout planning and part allocation.
Familiarity with assembly plant construction and processes.
Ability to work hybrid, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays, and on-site presence from Tuesday to Thursday.
