Job Description:

A premier client, a leading manufacturer in the Work Truck Industry, is searching for a Senior Packaging Engineer. We are looking for a Packaging Engineer who is passionate about selecting the appropriate packaging materials, creating packaging validation plans, and developing packaging designs to minimize waste, reduce costs and ensure product integrity during transportation and storage.

This is a large, reputable company in a growth phase with many new products to be developed and supported into full production. We integrate end user and dealer network feedback into product opportunities. This role will work closely with product management, manufacturing, and engineering leadership to deliver innovative solutions.

Primary Job Duties:
  • Ideate, develop, and implement packaging solutions that meet the needs of the company, distribution partners, and customers.
  • Develop and implement packaging testing and evaluation procedures.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select ideal packaging materials, machinery, and equipment.
  • Work on reducing shipping-related costs and improving the efficiency of the product packaging process.
  • Work with Buyers Products Manufacturing and Sourcing teams to determine the best packaging for in-bound components supplied to our manufacturing locations.
  • Monitor industry trends and innovations to stay updated with best practices and technologies for packaging.

Skills/ Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of packaging technology, materials, and design principles with knowledge of testing methods, regulations, and standards for packaging.
  • Familiarity with packaging production cost drivers and processes
  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental issues related to packaging.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software with project management skills.
  • Strong creative skills for developing unique packaging solutions using current trends.
  • Experience evaluating and solving design related issues that arise within manufacturing and/or production assembly.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven experience interacting with other groups to finalize product specifications.
  • Hands-on approach with mechanical aptitude
  • Pride and commitment to accuracy, detail, and well thought out designs.
  • Thorough and consistent documentation habits paired with excellent organizational and management skills.
  • The most important attribute is the ability to create and refine high quality designs for new products and product enhancements.

Education Background:

Knowledge (5-8 years of experience) of design principles particularly related to packaging design, development, and validation/testing.

Bachelor's degree in packaging design or related engineering fields.
