About the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Fiber Optic Design Engineering to be an important part of our team. As a Director of Fiber Optic Design Engineering, you will lead the planning, development, and implementation of fiber optic networks. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring an efficient and reliable communication infrastructure. You will assist with driving corporate-level strategic modeling and planning. This opportunity sits at the top of Cityside Fiber's Design Engineering team. The Design Engineering team is responsible for High-Level and Low-Level Fiber Optic Network Design for the purposes of budgeting and Outside Plant Construction. The objective of this position is to build a strong, reliable infrastructure to implement and maintain a world-class fiber-to-the-home and fiber to the premises Internet Service Provider. To be successful in this role you will have at least 7 - 10 years of experience in successfully managing Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering teams and in assessing the design, feasibility and implementation plan for FTTH deployments. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company's objectives. To be successful you will have superior communication, organizational, problem solving and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Understand Cityside Fiber's core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do
Design and implement a core and distribution network architecture to support a Fiber-to-the-Premises ISP, DWDM, and Dark Fiber operation.
Design and implement a distribution network architecture
Data center commissioning.
Network POP location configuration
Develop procedures for network equipment software upgrade testing and implementation.
Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber
Qualifications
High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Proven management experience (7- 10 years) in fiber optic network design and deployment.
BICSI or equivalent certification.
history of engineering leadership skills and the ability to manage teams effectively.
strong knowledge of OSP and ISP high-level and low-level design, aerial and underground practices, field data collection, CAD drafting/QA, ROW permitting, pole attachment applications, pole loading analysis, traffic control planning, construction support, redline follow-up, etc.
In depth understanding of outside plant (OSP) architectures consisting of underground, direct buried aerial and building applications.
Experience effectively communicating to and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Excellent organizational skills- Ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients.
Demonstrated highest level of integrity, intellectual honesty and strong work ethic.
Strong knowledge of the fiber internet market and technology trends.
Ability to develop Key Performance Indicators that outline an effective design engineering team.
Direct experience creating a segment routable Dual-Homed ISP network.
Direct experience designing and implementing DWDM networks
Location
Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine. May be required to travel to project/customer sites to fulfill job responsibilities.
Compensation
Starting at $150,000 annually (actual starting rate may be higher based on candidate's qualifications, skills and years of experience).
