Family Foundation established to address critical issues impacting our world and focused in science innovation, environmental sustainability, the performing arts, migration and immigrant communities, and Jewish life is searching for a talented Director of Communications to join their team.
Position Summary:
The Director of Communications will develop and execute on a results-oriented communications plan that advances the Foundation's mission, brand, and reputation to internal and external stakeholders and the public.
Job Duties:
Develop and manage the Foundation's brand across multiple channels: websites, videos, media outreach, social media, email marketing, events and print
Content development and creation: Write, edit and publish content for the Foundation's websites, social and digital channels, email newsletters and company intranet
Oversee website and electronic communications
Strong media relations skills - write press releases and prepare staff with talking points for media interviews. Help develop thought leadership articles and white papers
Manage and grow the Foundation's social media channels: develop content and monitor and track engagements; develop quarterly reports on the performance of digital channels
Assist with creating and disseminating RFPs and providing information about the Foundation's grant opportunities and programs
Meet regularly with program staff from each of the five pillars and ensure that messaging is aligned with both program goals and overall Foundation goals and values
Manage communications inbox and respond to grantee requests, ensuring brand compliance and consistency
Develop and oversee communications calendar
Qualifications, Skills & Characteristics:
Strong writing and editing skills and ability to communication effectively with diverse audiences
Experience with Squarespace, Campaign Monitor (or equivalent) and PowerPoint
Understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, and Facebook/LinkedIn Ads
Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and take the initiative
Work well independently and is self-motivated and detail-minded
Proven ability to develop trusted relationships with colleagues and work cross-functionally with internal leaders and peers
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and re-prioritize as needed
Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to clearly articulate project goals and requirements
Comfort with digital communications platforms
An outstanding storyteller with strong writing and editing skills, leadership capabilities and attention to detail
Additional Information:
Based on current circumstances, this position requires in-office work in Skokie, IL at least two-three days per week, with the option to work remotely or in-person on most other days as work schedule permits. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Work schedule and remote work capability Is subject to change at Foundation's discretion.
