Biota Inc. is a VC-funded biotechnology company located in Fort Collins and Boulder, CO. Founded with the mission of harnessing the data potential in wastewater to make our communities safer and more sustainable, we are recruiting an early hire to participate in launching the company and bringing our first product to market.
This work will involve the development and optimization of protein binding assays. Experience with assay development, protein biochemistry, protein purification, and ELISAs, is desired.
We are looking for a range of candidates to fill roles across our new R&D department.

The ideal candidates will be:
passionate and driven,
excited for the opportunity to enter at the ground level of a funded startup and help mold a positive, inclusive, and impactful culture, and
have experience in protein biochemistry and assay development
Responsibilities include:
Designing and executing experiments.
Maintaining a properly documented and updated laboratory notebook.
Analyzing data, and prepare figures for presentations, scientific reports, and publications
Lab management activities including ordering supplies, performing safety tests, organizing waste removal and in general, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized working environment
Contributing directly to a positive company culture and the team's success
Qualifications include:
At least 1 year of wet lab experience in a chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or other relevant laboratory environment. Experience with basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, solution preparation, creating buffers, etc. is required.
Research experience in biochemistry, protein assay development, microbiology, molecular biology.
Strong organization skills. First hires will be responsible for setting up new laboratory space and company processes.
High attention to detail.
Self-starter mentality
Project management skills, including experience working on several projects simultaneously; initiative in taking on and completing tasks and redistributing attention as necessary.
Must possess the ability and drive to be self-directed in a dynamic environment
Strong communication and collaboration skills
A strong sense of urgency
Education and Experience:
Varies based on role.
Bachelors degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or equivalent required as pre-requisite for all roles. Combination of industry experience and education will be taken into consideration for higher level roles.
