Job Description:

Credit Risk Officer

Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Credit & Risk Officer, the Credit Risk Officer will oversee the comprehensive analysis of the bank's credit portfolio, including concentration and sensitivity analysis, performance trends, and detailed reporting. This role supports the lending function by evaluating the acceptability of real estate and business appraisals, as well as environmental assessments. Additionally, the Credit Risk Officer will lead initiatives focused on process improvement and technology enhancement, while also supporting the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor portfolio concentrations to identify correlations, performance, and risk trends, and recommend appropriate policy limits and underwriting standards.
  • Conduct or oversee stress and sensitivity analysis on the portfolio and concentrations, identifying potential increases in criticized asset levels or other adverse scenarios.
  • Prepare industry analysis to support existing concentrations and explore new marketing initiatives.
  • Produce regular reports for management and the board on the bank's asset quality, portfolio composition, and administration.
  • Manage the collateral valuation and environmental assessment processes, including engaging appraisers or environmental engineers, reviewing the qualifications of approved appraisers and firms, and maintaining related databases.
  • Prepare the Allowance for Credit Losses analysis, incorporating economic, market, and portfolio trend data, and provide recommendations to the Board.
  • Develop ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by senior management.
  • Identify and implement improvements to streamline and enhance the effectiveness of existing reporting.
  • Serve as the Recording Secretary for the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, ensuring accurate meeting minutes and proper record-keeping.
  • Lead credit-related projects, developing and implementing processes and procedures, and monitoring their execution.
  • Review and improve various credit-related processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
  • Comply with all bank policies, procedures, audit requirements, and federal regulations relevant to this position.

Qualifications Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience in bank reporting and analytics.
  • Minimum one year of experience in bank commercial credit analysis.
  • Familiarity with bank loan and financial accounting systems, such as FiServ CORE DNA and Abrigo's Sageworks.
  • Experience developing database queries using SQL, Visual Basic, or other programming languages, and report writing (preferred).
  • Advanced related training, such as an MBA, CFA, Credit Risk Certification, and/or an Appraiser license (preferred).
