The Accounting Manager will report to the VP of Accounting and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close processes, and driving process improvements. This role will also focus on maintaining robust internal controls and compliance while maintaining the general ledger, assisting with year-end audit, tax and budget efforts as well as performing other accounting duties as assigned. To perform in this role, the Accounting Manager should possess solid communication, technology, organizational and analytical skills.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
Month-End Close:
Oversee and manage the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Create and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Process Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement within the accounting department.
Streamline account analyses and calculation of estimates.
Develop and implement procedures and policies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Internal Controls:
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure accurate and timely filing of all financial reports and statements.
Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes.
Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Required Skills/ Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA certification strongly preferred.
5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including managerial and public accounting experience.
Prior experience with general ledger accounting systems, NetSuite preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Experience in CPG or manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
