Senior Associate, Data Engineer
A private investment firm is looking to bring on a Senior Associate, Data Engineer to sit on their Core Data team that builds software to support the firm's investment processes. The team comprises of software, data, and machine learning engineers with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. The team's mission is to build cutting edge software applications and data models that generate proprietary investment insights and provide the investment team with tools that augment the investment decision making process.
About the role:
Create, design, and deploy ETL and ELT flows for consuming from disparate sources of 3rd party data
Build tooling to monitor data pipelines and perform troubleshooting and debugging to identify and resolve data quality and performance issues
Build and maintain the data and computing infrastructure that powers the deployment of highly valuable products that support the firm's investment process
You will help shape the future of software engineering at the firm by bringing your ideas on improving and automating what we do and how we do it
We're excited about candidates that have:
B.S. and/or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
3+ years of proven data and/or backend engineering experience designing and implementing data infrastructure solutions, with significant contributions that you can talk to
Experience owning projects at every step: ideation, infrastructure, implementation, and monitoring
Exceptional coding skills in Python for data processing and automation
Additional skills in RESTFUL API design, especially Flask, Django, or FastAPI are good to have
Highly proficient in SQL, with working knowledge of multiple database types
Experience with the following:
Modern cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and related services (e.g. BigQuery, Elastic, Snowflake)
Big Data processing (Spark or Pyspark)
Architecting, deploying, and managing infrastructure using Docker
Additionally, experience with any of the following is a bonus:
Managing Kubernetes clusters
Infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Terraform)
CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or CircleCI
Passion for engineering while being mission-driven, hard-working, humble, intellectually curious, and most importantly, great team players
Bias for execution and delivery. You know that what matters is delivering software that works every time
Willingness to be resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small
