Job Description:

The Quality Control Technician, Chemical Lab is jointly responsible for performing routine tests within the chemical lab and for performing environmental monitoring within the laboratory and production areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Chemical Laboratory testing
  • Perform routine tests per established procedures within the chemical laboratory.
  • Input results into appropriate databases or electronic data management systems, as applicable.
  • Support any out of specification investigations.
  • Monitoring of consumables and reagents within the chemical laboratory to ensure suitable inventory management.
  • Ensuring equipment calibration requirements are known, documented, and applied.

Enviornmental Monitoring
  • Perform routine monitoring of environmental conditions in laboratory and production environments to include water, air, and personal sampling according to established procedures.
  • Input results into appropriate databases or electronic data management systems, as applicable.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of any out of specifications conditions identified.
  • Ensuring equipment calibration requirements are known, documented, and applied.

Relationship Management
  • Interacts regularly and effectively communicates with the key internal leaders and team as well as relevant stakeholders aimed at building level of awareness on quality vision supporting them in facing quality issues.
  • Participate in customer technical meetings in order to provide technical services supporting relevant quality topics to ensure customer requirements are understood and fulfilled.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience performing common analytical tests such as pH measurement and titrations in a healthcare (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, contract manufacturer or equivalent) environment.
  • Understanding of usage and principles of operation of more complex analytical instrumentation; ex: ability to build a calibration curve and quantify samples of unknown concentration.
  • High school diploma required. College degree in a scientific field preferred.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of device manufacturing Quality Management System processes and features.
  • Knowledge of technologies and control strategies for relevant manufacturing processes in a medical device and/or pharma industry.
  • Basic knowledge of validation practices (IQ/OQ, PQ, method validation) for instrumentation qualification
  • Proficient in root cause analysis: methodologies, techniques, tools and applications
  • Proficient in statistical methods used in manufacturing.
