Summary

Rowan Digital Infrastructure is looking for a Senior Director of Construction to lead all construction operations and Team Members for Rowan, starting with pre-construction planning and continuing through onsite construction management and turnover to the Asset Management Teams.

The successful candidate will have the experience, knowledge, and leadership skills to simultaneously deliver multiple hyperscale data center campuses to a safe and successful delivery with quality, on time, and budget.

Location

On-site in Denver, CO.

Travel

Ability to travel as needed to execute the work, expected to be 50% or more, and include sites in TX, MD, and the Pacific Northwest.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe environment onsite for all Rowan and contractors/subcontractor personnel.
  • Provide Team leadership and meet business objectives by establishing the goals and KPIs for the construction management team and interfacing with other disciplines, including engineering, project management, and asset/facilities management. Responsible for the delivery of construction management activities, resulting in 100% on-time delivery and below budget 100% of project delivery.
  • Leads the construction management team, including: Developing roles and responsibilities for each field team member, Building out the Team as necessary to implement the project backlog, Training and mentoring, and Establishing goals and KPIs for each team member
  • Develop and own the CM processes necessary to de-risk the construction delivery of projects during the pre-construction phase.
  • Prepare and own the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be included in the PlayBook for all construction planning and management services.
  • The playbook shall include all construction management processes and procedures, including:
  • Pre-qualification and interviewing/vetting of the skillset of all construction partners, Final selection of construction partners, Preconstruction and full project planning, Logistics planning Project schedule, Review and input of project budget (led by Rowan Project Controls), Review and sign off on contractor GMPs and schedule at contracting engagement, Field oversight and contractor progress monitoring, and Field quality control.
  • Support contract management, the monitoring of bonds, and insurance compliance.
  • Perform work that demonstrates an awareness of and an appreciation for Rowan's cultural values, including an understanding that the customer is our north star and that we work with purpose and speed to deliver. Our commitment to quality, innovation, learning, and growth is key to our existence.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative professional working relationships with the project teams of other disciplines, such as Site Origination, Development, and construction.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplined team across different disciplines and focus areas to achieve a common goal.
  • Finance & Systems Leadership
  • Support budgeting and budget tracking performed by the Program/Project group. Provides expertise regarding means and methods and detailed cost estimates for various scopes.
  • Thorough understanding of ProCore.
  • Thorough understanding of the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Autodesk toolsets.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracting and contract management activities.

Education, Skills, and Experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience leading a Construction Division delivering industrial, data center, substation, and large-scale civil design projects.
  • Accredited professional degree in an appropriate discipline. Sustainable design accreditation and/or professional licensure preferred.
  • A demonstrated history of standardizing the construction delivery of mission-critical infrastructure with performance excellence across significant-sized, geographically dispersed geographic locations.
  • Prior participation in the growth chapter of a digital infrastructure business, making decisions impactful to value creation. Understands the commitment, conviction, and courageous decision-making necessary to succeed.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Blue Beam Revu.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural building systems, large civil systems (wet/dry utilities), electrical utility structures and systems, and other supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort with ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional environment.
