Lead Estimator (10 plus years of experience: Water/Wastewater OR Tunnelling OR Bridges OR Heavy Highway) and Estimator ( 5 plus years of experience: Water/Wastewater OR Tunnelling OR Bridges OR Heavy Highway).
Location: Grapevine, TX
Duties:
Develop complete discipline specific estimates for very large, complex industrial projects.
Must read the specifications and develop notes for the unique or extraordinary items.
Know how to build the project (best practices, sequence, geographical challenges etc.).
Understand what design deliverables by discipline are required and assure that the delivery schedule is met.
Verify quantities and deliverables meet estimate required.
Coordinate with design team to influence lowest cost of construction.
Facilitate Cross-Discipline Communication
Train and mentor estimators.
Must be capable of addressing technical challenges encountered during bid preparation.
Stay current on various trends and developments such as new equipment, means & methods, and procedures developing in the industry or specialized discipline.
Understand project past cost data for benchmarking to compare to estimates.
Site visits to learn current building methods and past cost generation.
Communication with Senior Managers - Communicate critical issues and estimate assumptions up to the Manager as they arise to ensure everyone is on the same page for the reviews to eliminate late changes.
Schedule and prepare for estimate reviews.
Conduct a detailed formal review of all engineered equipment, subcontract, and permanent material pricing.
Prepare special studies or reports required by the unusual nature of some bid items or conditions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or similar field of study from an accredited institution and 5+ years of relevant estimating experience ( 10 + years for Lead Estimator).
Experience with HCSS, Blue Beam, Primavera P6 and Procore, AutoCAD or similar software.
