JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Process Engineer position is responsible for determining operations to produce products and develops processes to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met. This position troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action. The Process Engineer also researches the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment. This role will be directly linked to our Masterplan completion in our Cartersville, Georgia site with responsibility focused on the process side of the expansion. There will be support of the current infrastructure in some instances.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of food and beverage ingredients.
  • Create/edit/maintain necessary documentation.
  • Work with maintenance to optimize equipment p.m. and calibration frequency.
  • Assess the availability of raw materials and their safety and environmental impact of the facility.
  • Support the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel.
  • Work closely with other specialists (including scientists) for quality control of raw materials.
  • Assume responsibility for safety/environmental issues and ongoing performance of processes.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee isoccasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.

The employee is frequently required to sit (or stand) for extended periods of time; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position in our Cartersville, Georgia Facility, and hours of work and days can vary depending on production schedule.

Travel

Less than 25%

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 8+ years' experience in food & beverage manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in process engineering.
