Job Description: Heavy Civil Superintendent (Wet Utility Background Preferred)
Leading Construction Company is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent with a strong background in wet utility construction. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale civil projects, particularly those involving water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. The Superintendent will oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure successful, on-time, and within-budget delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Oversee daily operations on site, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
Supervision: Direct and coordinate the activities of workers and subcontractors involved in the construction, installation, and maintenance of wet utility systems.
Quality Control: Monitor work quality and conduct inspections to ensure adherence to project standards and specifications.
Scheduling: Develop and manage project schedules, coordinating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
Budget Management: Assist in preparing and managing project budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing resource allocation.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure all team members adhere to safety standards.
Problem-Solving: Address and resolve issues promptly that may arise on-site, such as technical challenges or delays.
Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, and as-built drawings.
Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing project updates, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction, with a focus on wet utility systems (water, sewer, storm drainage).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Certifications: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and any other relevant certifications.
Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications. Knowledge of construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid).
Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse workforce.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Travel: Willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
