Your Job:

The Controller will play a critical role in shaping our financial operations during a period of significant operational focus, M&A and organic growth. This position is both strategic and tactical, requiring a CPA with a "roll up your sleeves" attitude who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Expectations & Prioritized Outcomes:
  • Month-End Close Leadership: Own the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements. This includes journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Systems & Standardization Champion: Collaborate with local offices to implement and optimize standardized financial processes, billing/collections procedures, and workflow reporting systems. Be a trusted advisor and resource for best practices.
  • Financial Operations Management: Manage and streamline accounts payable/receivable processes, payroll, and other financial operations, leveraging technology and automation where possible.
  • External Relationships: Manage relationships with external auditors, tax preparers, lenders, and insurance providers. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for audits and lender requirements.
  • Banking & Treasury: Act as the primary contact for banking and treasury matters, managing cash flow, etc.
  • Relationship Builder: Build strong relationships with local office leaders, functional team leads, and other key stakeholders to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture. Act as a liaison between corporate and local offices to drive alignment and performance.
  • HR Support: Collaborate with our PEO to manage our HRIS system and provide general HR support, including onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance
  • Data-Driven Insights: Develop and analyze financial reports to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Provide actionable insights to the CEO, COO and local leaders to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Strategic Partner: Contribute to the strategic planning process, providing financial modeling and analysis to support growth initiatives.
  • M&A Integration: Lead the financial integration of acquired accounting firms, working closely with local leadership to ensure a smooth transition of processes, systems, and financial reporting.

Critical Role Competencies:
  • CPA: Active Certified Public Accountant license required.
  • M&A Experience: Demonstrated experience with financial due diligence, integration, and post-acquisition financial management.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software, financial reporting tools, and data analysis. Experience with Netsuite, bill.com, Expensify, payroll and HRIS systems a plus.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to build and lead a team, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.
