Job Description:

PeerSource is currently recruiting for a Manager of Budget on a Direct Hire basis for our client in Golden, CO.

Summary

Responsible for directing and analyzing the creation, management, and reconciliation of extensive divisional budgets and fund operations. Liaise with the Director of Budget and Treasury, and department heads to ensure objectives are met consistently. Steer administrative operations within the division, conduct in-depth cost/benefit evaluations, and generate detailed financial reports for the Board and leadership. Formulate advanced financial projections and recommend solutions to complex budgetary challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the key expert on committees, addressing organizational challenges and offering cost-analysis insights.
  • Interpret and enact organizational, state, and federal guidelines for a range of stakeholders and administrators.
  • Partner with the Director of Budget to enhance and uphold budgeting practices, aligning with Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) standards.
  • Spearhead initiatives within the budget building database, Anaplan, and collaborate with the Director of Budget and Human Resources on compensation and cash flow assessments.
  • Oversee the creation and management of organizational budgets across all funds, evaluating and comparing them against actuals. Recommend solutions for discrepancies, using critical problem-solving abilities. This role demands consistent adjustments and forward-planning.
  • Lead the annual budget coordination and formulation, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and relevant statutory mandates.
  • Produce detailed financial forecasts and analyses, sourcing data from systems like PeopleSoft.
  • Craft transparent financial communication materials for public consumption and design comprehensive budgeting tools, such as queries, charts, and reports, for departments.
  • Enhance and reconcile budgetary reports, working alongside Financial Services and IT for optimal PeopleSoft application.
  • Independently handle schedules and reconciliations in line with GAAP and state requirements.
  • Act as a guiding force for other budget team members and foster their growth within the organization.
  • Lead a team, from recruitment and training to performance assessment and conflict resolution, emphasizing both budgetary creation and adherence.

Required Skills
  • 5+ years' experience in accounting/budgeting
  • Prior nonprofit or public sector experience with strong experience with governmental accounting and accounting practices. Cost accounting/allocation experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Office 365, particularly Excel (graphs, charts, macros, etc.). ERP experience is desired.
  • Must have a good financial analysis background, with the ability to identify problems and issues within funds and departments by analyzing and evaluating trends then recommending solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related (equivalent experience will be considered).

Salary range: $95,000-$115,000 (plus excellent benefits package)
