Staff Accountant at Columbia Forest Group in Newport, Vermont

Job Description:

Columbia Forest Products seeks an accountant to work within our Veneer Division accounting group.


Job responsibilities include plant accounting and reporting and would include overall general ledger responsibility for assigned entities. This position also requires knowledge of multiple tasks within the plant offices (payroll, AP, banking) and certain division wide centralized functions (invoicing, AR, payments) to be able to back-up these areas as needed.


This position requires extensive use of computerized systems, written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities, as well as being a team player. Some travel will be required.


Candidates should have a four-year degree in Accounting and be able to demonstrate solid experience in a similar position.


Candidates with knowledge of Microsoft's D365 ERP application and/or Microsoft's Power Suite applications will be given priority.


This will be a hybrid position, with the possibility to work from home occasionally during the week as appropriate. We will give priority to candidates that live near one of our mill operations or are willing to relocate as this will provide greater opportunities for certain types of support for the accounting department. This would include Newport, VT, Presque Isle, ME, and Mellen, WI.
