OSITION: Assistant Professor of Practice and Clinical Coordinator in Counselor Education

Stetson University seeks an individual with expertise in Counselor Education for a nine-month, full-time appointment as an Assistant Professor of Practice beginning August 2024. This is a two-year contract pending satisfactory performance in the first year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited institution or have a related doctoral degree. If applicants have a related degree, they must have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. Experience in teaching and mentoring Masters level students is required, and preference will also be given to candidates with experience supervising practicum and internship students. Interested candidates with experience in clinical coordination, specifically, are strongly preferred. Individuals should demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Applicants are encouraged to highlight skills and experiences that demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible in mental health counseling (LMHC) and/or marriage and family therapy (LMFT) in the state of Florida. Finally, preference will also be given to applicants with previous full-time counselor education experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stetsons Counselor Education department focuses on education of the whole student through a strong foundation in the core CACREP content areas, experiential learning, and professional mentoring relationships with faculty. The Professor of Practice and Clinical Coordinator has several main functions; to act as a representative of the Department to the Community; to advance the mission of the Department by working with the community and external constituencies; to act as a mentor and facilitator for students, site supervisors, and staff within the Department as they carry out their mission; and, to lead and manage the Practicum and Internship experience for 150+ graduate students, who come from a broad cross section of diverse backgrounds. These functions include documentation required for CACREP, documentation related to the requirements of our partner sites, and management of the Time 2 Track system. The individual who takes this role will also serve as internship coordinator for the departments ongoing, federally funded Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant, the term of which ends June 30, 2024. The teaching load includes two courses per fall and spring semesters with additional teaching opportunities contracted separately in the summer semester.

The graduate program of the Department of Counselor Education (www.stetson.edu/counselor) consists of six full-time faculty members and is dedicated to preparing counselor education students to be ethically informed; developing a keen awareness of their personal strengths and resiliency; further developing an appreciation for cultural diversity, critical thinking, and creative expression; and having a deep commitment to the counseling profession and community as a whole.
