The Raising A Village Foundation (RAVF) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, committed to providing high-quality intervention programs and community resources to children, youth, and families in the areas of education, health and wellness, and the arts.

Raising A Village Foundation leads several key initiatives designed to create positive change for children and families in underserved communities. Each program offers support and educational opportunities that promote personal growth and civic engagement. These initiatives include: Driven 2 Succeed, At the Table, and We the Village.

The Opportunity

Raising A Village Foundation is looking for a self-motivated, mission-driven, Director of Education. The Director of Education is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of educational programs within the organization. This role involves overseeing instructional design, implementing educational initiatives, managing program staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational services. The Director of Education collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to advance the organization's educational goals and objectives. The Director of Education supports multiple program sites led by site coordinators in our schools or community learning centers, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and strongly believes in our vision and values.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a passion for education and a track record of success in program management and leadership. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director and works closely with all members of the RAVF team, including site coordinators, school administrators, and community partners.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Supervision
  • Serve as a spokesperson for Driven 2 Succeed Program to a variety of audiences, including school personnel, K-12 students, and community partners.
  • Monitor education services across program areas such as data collection, payroll, and scheduling to help ensure that the program is providing services that are of the highest quality.
  • Manage and supervise site coordinators daily.
  • Coordinate planned leaves of absence and facilitate service coverage.
  • Ensure the execution of work plans and daily tasks.
  • Complete performance evaluation and professional development plans for assigned staff.
  • Participates in management team meetings as assigned and relevant to position responsibilities.
  • Execute RAVF's disciplinary action protocol if necessary for site coordinators and tutors.

Curriculum Development and Instructional Design
  • Design, develop, and implement all D2S services, curricula, activities, and events.
  • Assist the Executive Director with the coordination of program planning meetings and school tours.
  • Facilitates monthly partner meetings within and/or across sites; creates and uses a standard agenda for meetings.
  • Schedule and coordinate site visits for each school and community site to monitor progress.
  • Review bi-weekly reports, assignment trackers, and completion forms to ensure strong program connections and communication.
  • Monitor the receipt of weekly lesson plans and classwork preparation.
  • Ensures alignment with educational standards and best practices.
  • Incorporates feedback and updates curriculum as needed.
  • Plan and executive end of the year celebrations for service sites.

Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Collaborates with internal teams to integrate educational initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Establishes partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Represents the organization at educational events and conferences.

Staff Leadership and Development
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on a program-specific training calendar in order to deliver high-quality training for tutors.
  • Organize and prepare materials for training.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to education staff.
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment.

Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Assist HR in recruitment, training and coordination efforts of site coordinators to ensure that the Driven 2 Succeed program reaches or exceeds its goals.
  • Assist in the coordination, collection, and flow of required paperwork for site coordinators and Driven Student Corps Members.

Office Administration
  • Schedule weekly meetings with program staff.
  • Support the processing of payroll for program staff.
  • Create work schedules and assignments for site coordinators.
  • Coordinate site coordinator supplies and carts needed at site.
  • Monitor attendance, project management systems and other tracking and information.
  • Compiles site and tutor data for monthly monitoring reports related to education services.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in education, sociology, youth development or related field that includes background on human development, community engagement. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Working actively with a large group of external organizations on a project.
  • Program sites are accessible by public transit; however, personal transportation is strongly preferred.

Required
  • 5 years of leadership experience in educational and/or school-based roles.
  • Entirely dependable meeting commitments, following through, working independently, and has a strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
  • Project management experience, including attention to detail, ability to support multiple projects simultaneously on deadline, and navigate alignment to broader organization priorities and strategy.
  • Holds self accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modeling values.
  • Adept capacity to identify problems, recognize opportunities, and creatively devise and apply practical solutions.
  • Ability, at all times, to maintain proper relational boundaries, manage appropriate relational expectations, and follow RAVF and other operative institutional protocols with youth and families in ways that model healthy relationships for all.
  • Approachable, good listener, easy to talk to; builds and maintains effective relationships with colleagues, members and external partners and supporters.
  • Values diversity and different people's perspectives, able to work cross-culturally
  • Displays consistent excellent judgment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Pro?cient in Microsoft Of?ce, G Suite, Adobe Pro, Excel, task management systems, etc.
  • Willingness to travel and work nights/weekends on occasion.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Raising A Village Foundation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is a hybrid, full-time position at 40 hours per week. While RAVF is currently operating in a hybrid model, candidates are expected to work in person for two days per pay period at the Washington, D.C office space, which will be scheduled by the direct supervisor. Work hours may include occasional evenings and weekends.

The annual salary for this position is $75,000-$85,000, and compensation is commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical and dental benefits, 10 days of paid vacation (increases with tenure), sick leave, floating holidays, winter holiday office closure, most federal holidays, fertility support with tenure, and 401(k) retirement program. The starting salary is based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. To counter pay inequity and uphold internal parity, we use a nonnegotiable starting salary system, while benchmarking our pay to competitive markets.
