The Packaging Manager is the subject matter expert for packaging and packaging equipment for the Americas. They will provide support to manufacturing plants for the following:
Definition of technical standards and best practices to operate and maintain packaging equipment
Monitor reliability of packaging equipment
Troubleshooting of major issues related to packaging operations
Debottlenecking of packaging lines
The Packing Manager, in cooperation with Process and Reliability teams and providers of packaging technologies; recommends improvements of plant equipment to improve reliability, reduce costs, and maintain material integrity. They will also provide technical guidance and participate in review of packaging equipment investment projects; responsible for coordinating trials on new packaging equipment.
Responsibilities:
Define technical parameters, prepare test plans and evaluate packaging components and assemblies ensuring regulatory and quality compliance with industry standards (EPA, FIFRA, etc.), company-specific manufacturing processes and the management of change (MOC) process.
Responsible for trouble shooting and problem solving of packaging issues arising in manufacturing or in the supply chain.
Develop and maintain package specs, usage instructions, certifications, and artwork templates; provide input on truck and container loading. Provide support for storage stability studies.
Initiate and deliver projects to standardize packaging components or optimize the cost of packaging while enhancing image, quality, recyclability and performance.
Design package components that will ensure user safety, product and environmental protection, optimize cost, and ensure integration into production facilities.
Use creativity and knowledge of packaging technology to improve packaging cost and customer appeal.
Work with marketing teams to develop package design and anti-tampering strategies which meet or exceed customer expectations.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, with Packaging Engineering highly preferred.
5+ years of experience in packaging engineering with demonstrated packaging experience in chemical (powders) or packaging industries (bags, FIBCs and bulk).
Keen understanding of packaging parts like motion control, conveyors, bag filling, FIBC filling, palletizing, etc.
Good project management skill and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously - execute and deliver projects on time.
Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability in exercising independent judgment in sound decision making.
Demonstrated record of taking responsibility and accountability for decisions and end results.
Highly effective organizational skills, strong communications skills (verbal and written), and the ability to work with a range of personnel effectively (operators, engineers, plant leadership).
