Partner, Greybull Stewardship SBIC I

Greybull Stewardship is seeking an experienced Partner to lead our anticipated new SBIC fund, Greybull Stewardship SBIC I. Greybull Stewardship is an active manager of private equity investments in smaller profitable companies with $500,000 to $8,000,000 in profit. To date, the portfolio of investments consists of primarily software, education, franchise, and specialty manufacturing companies. The firm has approximately $300 million in assets and is looking to expand the financing options available to prospective portfolio companies via an anticipated new debt fund that will apply to be a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) licensed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Greybull is not yet licensed by the SBA and will apply once the Partner is identified. Greybull Stewardship's team combines multi-decade investment experience with deep functional and operating expertise in scaling smaller businesses. Greybull Stewardship's headquarters are in Jackson, Wyoming, a number of its team members reside and work in Wyoming and the Mountain West/Midwest region of the USA.

The new Partner, Greybull Stewardship SBIC I will lead an anticipated new fund to provide senior debt financing to companies in the same industries as Greybull's existing investments. The prospective SBIC fund would invest in companies seeking debt financing rather than Greybull's traditional equity financing, and the investments would not overlap with Greybull's other fund investments. The Partner would be a member of the Greybull Stewardship SBIC I investment committee along with Mason Myers and Sasha Kovriga.

Greybull Stewardship is seeking a new Partner to launch, manage day-to-day operations, and provide leadership for its SBIC debt fund. The successful candidate must be able to create a strategic plan for the fund by refining the investment focus and investment size, collaborate with Greybull's existing sourcing activities, assist with the application for SBIC licensure, bring a mid-level team member with them at hiring, a hire a team to manage the fund, collaborate on the raising of private capital for the fund, help design the investment process and other important activities to launch and manage a successful debt fund. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of sourcing, underwriting and diligence, approving, and managing debt transactions. Ideal prior experience will be with another SBIC fund, a mezzanine fund, certain types of banks making smaller commercial loans, a business development company, or similar entities.

The Partner will:
• be a superb investment decision-maker and credit analyst;
• provide leadership and day-to-day operational fund oversight;
• lead high-level decision-making about the SBIC application strategy, investment focus, fundraising and other elements of launching the fund;
• develop and implement operational policies and the strategic growth plan for the fund;
• create an environment that promotes great performance and positive teamwork; and
• achieve excellent investment returns for the limited partners.

Further, the new Partner will have primary responsibility for all the fund's activities from investing to budgeting, reporting, and auditing; implementing fund's strategy; and assuring that all legal and regulatory documents are filed and compliance with all laws and regulations.

Position Requirements:
• successful proven track record in a banking, lending, mezzanine debt financing, business development company, or with an SBIC fund;
• experience with debt, balance sheet and cash flow management in smaller private businesses;
• knowledge of the SBA application processes and regulations;
• proven ability to build consensus and relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• demonstrated leadership skills;
• proven political acumen and excellent business skills and judgment;
• must reside in the mountain west or mid-west region of the United States, and;
• bachelor's degree and eight years of proven leadership experience while a master's degree or MBA or other relevant graduate degree is strongly preferred.
