Accounts Payable Specialist




Location: Hybrid in Inver Grove Heights, MN


We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing vendor invoices within our corporate ERP systems, adhering to company policies and internal control procedures. Your attention to detail, adaptability, and strong communication skills will be essential as you collaborate with vendors, business unit representatives, and sourcing teams.



Responsibilities:

Invoice Processing and Vendor Management (60%)

• Process both purchase order (PO) related and non-PO invoices promptly, ensuring compliance with company policies and customer expectations.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies efficiently.

AP Process Support (30%)

• Facilitate the transition from manual to automated vendor invoice delivery.
• Assist with purchase order maintenance related to invoice processing.
• Address vendor inquiries regarding payment status in a timely and customer-friendly manner.
• Contribute to special projects and other assigned duties.
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Identify and communicate process inefficiencies to the AP supervisor and manager, proposing potential solutions.

FSS Departmental Support (10%)

• Engage in special projects and additional duties as assigned.
• Support the corporate Lean initiative.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
• Associate Degree in Accounting or a related business field OR 4 years of accounts payable (A/P) or accounting experience. Additional AP experience may offset educational requirements.
• Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency in accounts payable processing.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education and Certifications:
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Accounts Payable Specialist (APS) or Certified Accounts Payable Associate (CAPA) certification.
• Additional Skills and Attributes:
• In-depth knowledge of accounts payable processes within SAP and Coupa.
• Significant experience with Microsoft 365 (formerly Microsoft Office).
• Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Work Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or related accounting experience (additional education may partially offset experience requirements).
