Your Role: Sheet Metal Mechanic

 

With a site mission of developing effective partnerships to maintain equipment safely and reliably in a qualified state and drive improvements to reduce manufacturing losses, this role will provide reliability and maintenance for the sheet metal shop and support the maintenance team. This position’s main responsibility is to fabricate, plan, coordinate and share knowledge for the sheet metal shop. This includes daily work orders, planning, maintenance and coordination of jobs in the sheet metal shop. This also includes providing leadership and training for other mechanics and the B3 in the sheet metal shop. This role will also include the improvement and on-going management of the maintenance program revolving around safety & environmental, quality, maintenance performance, project support, and people.

 

Your Responsibilities:  

Safety - With our goal to pursue an injury free workplace, minimize our environmental impact, and improve safety performance and awareness, responsibilities include:


  • Execution of work in a safe manner according to job plans and safety procedures

  • Developing safe job plans in regard to the sheet metals job plans and tasks as needed

  • Developing safe LOTOs as related to sheet metal work

  • Ensure compliance with all GMP, MI and safety PMs

  • Provide support through the CMMS (SAP) and WO process to address any safety or environmental concern

  • Provides support in incident reporting, investigations, deviations or corrective measures (CAPAs) as needed

Quality - Operate in a continuous state of compliance and improve our Quality of Maintenance Execution, as well as look to become more effective and efficient with our processes, including:

  • Execute work in compliance with GQS and maintenance procedures related to sheet metal

Maintenance Performance - Through effective resource utilization and continuous improvement, we will become a profit center for Animal Health Manufacturing by reducing losses, improving equipment reliability, and lowering Maintenance costs. Responsibilities include:


  • Execute work in support of CMMS (SAP)- including PM plan creation and job plans, equipment identification, equipment criticality determination, functions specification, mechanical integrity and other functions as needed

  • Develop and support the sheet metal shop in areas of supplies coordination, contractors support and all things related to running the fabrication shop

  • On occasion, as business needs dictate fill in as a mechanic in the regular maintenance shop

Maintenance/Operational Department Support - We will use a controlled process for work execution (Planning & Scheduling w/ Priority Response) in order to maintain the equipment in a qualified state and support operational objectives for providing product to patients. This entails:


  • Coordination of sheet metal work orders with op techs, supervisors, schedulers

  • Execute work and train others in relation to welding and fabrication related to the sheet metal shop

  • Help plan work orders with mechanical expertise and be able to fabricate the needed piece/modifications

  • Work with contractors on sheet metal needs and coordination

  • Follow-up on work orders and closing comments on sheet metal jobs and drive continuous improvement efforts towards better utilization of technicians and completion of jobs

  • Provide Engineering Support for Projects & Design

  • Review and modify SOPs, job plans and task lists as needed


  • Aid in the high-level coordination of PMs

  • Execute job plans for sheet metal task procedures on new equipment installation and modification for existing equipment
     

 

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications): 


  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent  

  • Experience: 5+ years mechanical maintenance and fabrication experience 

  • Ability to teach, train and develop people in regard to sheet metal knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally at all levels

  • Ability to organize and execute maintenance work

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, set objectives and meet targets with minimum oversite

  • GMP knowledge/manufacturing experience

 

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications): 


  • SAP EAM experience

  • Exposure and demonstration on knowledge of the Clinton site

 

Additional Information:  


  • Hours can be changed based on business need.

  • General hours are intended to be 10 hours- 4 days per week

  • Location: Clinton, Indiana
