A Town of Recreational Beauty For over 200 years, Schroon Lake, a quaint rural town home to about 1,880 full time residents and thousands more second homeowners and yearly visitors, has been celebrated for its friendly people, iconic Adirondack scenery, and endless recreational and cultural activities. In the late 1800s Schroon became a destination for wealthy families from the NY Metropolitan area. By 1915, after the introduction of automobiles, people from the cities were flocking to the Schroon Lake region. Grand resorts such as Taylors on Schroon (later Scaroon Manor), the Leland House and the Brown Swan along with a number of Adirondack Style Lodges made Schroon Lake a premier summer vacation spot. This storied history can still be found throughout the Town, and we are still known for our hospitality, one of the most beautiful waterfronts in the Adirondacks, and the best year-round access to countless destinations. The Clerk is responsible for performing a wide range of basic clerical and typing duties to support the functioning of all departments within the Town. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Sorting/organizing/preparing vouchers for vendor invoices; Data entry of vendor invoices into accounting program; Preparation and mailing of check payments to vendors; Preparation of letters and forms; Review emails; answer phones, photocopy and filing; Prepare and make bank deposits; Pick-up, sort and distribute mail; Will be taught certain duties of the current clerk in order to provide back-up coverage. These duties include the preparation of the daily landfill scale reports and bank deposits; and preparation of the Towns bi-weekly payroll.
