As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Lead to join our team and support our staffing and recruiting operations.
Responsibilities
Manage NDBC consumable inventory procurement/receipt/issuance, government equipment/property receipt/control, and maintenance of NDBC's GSA vehicle fleet
Manage approximately 3,000-line items (~335,000 units) in NDBC's consumable materials inventory using the existing government-provided inventory management system (NEMIS)
Manage a functional logistics warehouse and property room to ensure the accuracy and availability of consumable materials stock and property/equipment to support the NDBC Mission
Manage Logistics employees (warehouse, procurement, and property control)
Analyze and forecast consumable inventory requirements and evaluate the vendor pool to ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained to meet NDBC's operational demand
Make stock level adjustment recommendations to ensure that the minimum/maximum/reorder quantities are set to sustain program requirements without excessive overstock
Coordinate, prioritize, task, and monitor the status of consumable item requisitions throughout the procurement cycle (vendor identification, competitive bid process, ordering, receipt, etc.)
Monitor commitments against available consumable inventory funding and coordinate with Finance to verify funds are available to support these functions or to request additional funding
Maintain the NDBC Property Management Program including management, control, and accountability of the approximately 15,000 items valued at $50M in NDBC's property inventory
Evaluate and report to the Government Property Custodian any instances of lost, missing, damaged or destroyed government property. Work with the Customer to resolve any issues
Assist the NDBC Facility Manager to report any onsite facilities issues to ensure that facilities tasks are completed without mission interruption and updating facilities requests accordingly
Provide inspection and verification of goods received on shipments for both consumable and Government Funded Property items
Manage NDBC inventories of consumable items, including receiving of items delivered to NDBC that are not directly related to field services
Process all necessary inventory record additions, deletions and adjustments in the equipment/inventory management system to ensure accurate records are maintained
Provide a comprehensive annual report of property inventory count and location, and an annual summary of physical count of consumable inventory
Provide ongoing analysis of the consumable materials inventory management processes and procedures
Make internal controls recommendations to improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and accuracy of inventories
Make recommendations for changes in the stock levels due to cost savings achieved by purchasing in quantities beyond the established levels, changes in utilization, suppliers, and delivery lead time
Provide annual report of utilization for each of the items in the Consumables inventory and Property/Equipment for the previous 3 years in 1-year periods and summarize recommendations for disposition and/or improvements
Perform property transaction entries in the DOC accountable property management system (SUNFLOWER) and verify/report annually
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a Logistics related field with 3 years' experience in Logistics -OR- 8 total years' experience in Logistics
Previous experience with the National Data Buoy Center and its mission is preferred.
Previous experience using the existing government-provided inventory management system, NEMIS, and DOC accountable property management system, SUNFLOWER, is preferred.
