Job Summary


The Office of University Advancement is responsible for serving as the outreach arm of the university to our 50,000 alumni. Through outreach activities, we seek to raise private support to ensure that Georgia College and State University is able to meet its annual and strategic goals.



Responsibilities




Event Planning - 60




Assist the director of alumni engagements with all aspects of event planning and execution for targeted alumni events and activities, including Alumni Weekend and homecoming, as well as for alumni events both locally and in other areas. Travel and overnight travel maybe required to serve as the on-site event representative. Additionally this position will require working and planning with venues and constituents outside the campus area. Coordinate with University Events and Protocol. Event planning should include assisting with all aspects, from determining a venue to designing and sending invitations, targeted mailing and outreach lists, giveaways and collateral materials, food & beverage if appropriate, etc. Prepare and submit invoices related to events and collateral.




Engagement - 25




Assist the director of alumni engagement with engagement of young alumni, alumni affinity groups, and student support. Assist with alumni engagement in recruitment and retention efforts. Develops strategies to increase alumni involvement with alumni programs and events. Partners with the Annual Giving Office to support, identify, and cultivate affinity-based fundraising efforts. Develops, implements, and executes a volunteer training program, including processes for volunteer identification, stewardship, and succession planning.




Alumni Communication and other outreach - 10




Provide input on the Connections magazine. Assist with class note planning and alumni updates, review and suggest content, and coordinate with communications and other advancement partners. Coordinate with digital engagement on content for other social media outlets.

Required Qualifications




Educational Requirements


Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.




Required Experience


3-5 years of related experience.



Preferred Qualifications




Additional Preferred Qualifications


Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other fund raising software.

Bachelor's Degree




Preferred Experience


Experience working in higher education.
Experience working in an Advancement Office.
Experience working in Events Planning.
