Kleinfelder's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking a Project Manager to join the team.

The Project Manager (Utility) is responsible for managing electric utility project delivery to include the complete project lifecycle of planning, preliminary and final engineering, procurement, construction, and pre-commissioning. This role will be responsible for the successful performance and management of all assigned project resources, in-house and outsourced, within the parameters of cost, safety, quality, schedule and established objectives.

The Project Manager (Utility) works under the general supervision of the Department Manager.

The Project Manager (Utility) provides guidance and/or work assignments to the project team members.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Oversee all aspects of projects to include the coordination of project activities across various stakeholders

  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects

  • Prepare reports for upper management regarding the status of projects

  • Act as a representative for senior stakeholders at internal and external meetings

  • Organize internal departments to effectively control scheduling of projects

  • Report project cost and quality control activities to client

  • Provide financial management of operations, monitor expenses, approve/disperse funds, and coordinate accounting and cost allocation

  • Coordinate construction monitoring with client program manager to resolve problems, disputes and scheduling of work

  • Prepare contract changes and supplemental agreements

Position Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related discipline and 5 - 8 years project management or related experience OR high school diploma and 9 - 12 years of project management or related experience

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred

  • Demonstrated and documented success at managing projects

  • Strong committed leader who can motivate and engage highly complex functional groups/teams, with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communicator

  • People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients

  • Familiarity with/use of PC-based computer systems

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations

  • Good written and oral expression in English

  • Current/valid State Driver’s License

Physical Demands


  • Frequently stands; walks; uses hands to finger, handle or feel; reaches with hands and arms; stoops; kneels; crouches or crawls; talks and hears. Regularly climbs or balances. Occasionally sits.

  • Hearing requirements: Must be able to hear alarms and have the ability to audibly identify the presence of a danger or hazard.

  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed at a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

  • Ability to frequently work outdoors and occasionally near moving mechanical parts and working in extreme heat and cold.
