Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder’s New England Region is seeking a creative and driven Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our team in either our Boston or Westborough, Massachusetts office. This is a great growth opportunity to build project management skills and gain technical experience in a team environment, while planning and executing environmental site assessment and remediation tasks.

As a Geologist / Environmental Scientist you will have the opportunity to manage project tasks with the support of project managers. This role will include performing fieldwork and subcontractor oversight, communicating with and mentoring staff, preparing and reviewing technical reports, ensuring quality execution, supporting site safety, and evaluating site data to proactively progress projects toward regulatory closure.

This opportunity requires strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities in order to ensure compliance with relevant state/federal regulations and client-specific requirements. As you build these skills you will be supported by a team of project managers and technical experts.

Position requirements:


  • 3 - 6 years of experience working on environmental assessments and remediation projects

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as proficiency with MS Office including Word, and Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work independently, as well as in a team environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail, as well as organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related discipline

  • Knowledge of MA regulations and guidance documents

  • Experience conducting environmental field investigations and data collection/sampling

  • Experience with various contaminants including petroleum compounds, metals, chlorinated compounds, etc.

  • Office experience related to scheduling, lab coordination, data evaluation, technical report writing, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)


Preferred qualifications:

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date 8-hour refresher

  • Experience in hydrogeological and conceptual site modeling a plus

  • Experience conducting Vapor Intrusion (VI) investigations a plus

  • Knowledge of RCRA & CERCLA regulations and HAZMAT assessments beneficial
