The Research Program Coordinator will provide oversight and management in support of research operations in a microbiology laboratory. They will organize and maintain materials and supplies to support on-going clinical phage therapy studies as the primary point person in direct coordination with the Principal Investigator. Duties include but are not limited to: coordinating with physicians and researchers to receive clinical patient Mycobacteria samples for phage susceptibility testing, ensuring correct shipping permits are in place to receive and send samples, sending test results to clinicians, discussing patient status and therapeutic potential of phage(s) with clinicians and doctors, and tracking patient progress throughout the course of their phage therapy treatment. They will organize, analyze, and distribute microbiological materials used by numerous doctors and their patients around the world in a timely manner by investigating bacteriophage susceptibility of clinical Mycobacterial isolates, determining patient antibody-mediated neutralization the therapeutic phage, and developing hose range mutants of mycobateriophages.
Executes protocol-related research procedures, activities, outreach, and education. Manages a complex program or study or multiple programs and studies. Collects and analyzes data and complies with all policies and regulations. Recommends improvements to policy and procedure.
Aseptic technique and microbiology skills; math and analytical skills; bioinformatic analysis skills; Requires advanced microbiological techniques and skills in pipetting liquid solutions; supervise and train student researchers.
Position will require standing 75% of the day.
