Academy of Art University is currently hiring for a Director, Campus Safety to lead a team that is vital to the safety of our blended student, faculty and staff population. This person will assist the Executive Director of Campus Safety and Lab Resources in the development of strategies that effectively improve the Campus Safety department and drives safety and security for students, staff, campus buildings, facilities and assets.
Responsibilities:
Leadership / Management
Serve as backend technical support for the Campus Safety department, including but not limited to, video surveillance systems, card access software//hardware and fire alarm systems.
Performs maintenance on security systems at each building with the guidance and consultation of security vendors.
Develop and implement innovative ways of educating the University community about safety-related issues.
Work in partnership with the Executive Director of Campus Safety to create strategies to enhance safety related processes, embedded technology issues and crime prevention programs.
Oversee projects regarding disaster preparedness for earthquakes, fires, fire drills and active shooter exercises.
Review statistical information and compile reports for Executive Leadership that summarize the number of incidents the Campus Safety Department responds to on a monthly basis.
Oversee Clery and Title IX compliance and metrics associated with the annual report.
Assist with the coordination and set-up for special events including technical workshops, visiting artist lectures, Spring Show, Annual Faculty show, Art Auction, and Gallery Art shows as needed.
Oversee management of key inventory/control for all University buildings.
Leverage synergies with local Police/Fire and EMS agencies.
Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures and oversee compliance with same, reviews activities, investigations and operations.
Plan and budget for the procurement of uniforms, equipment, supplies and wages for the department and personnel to maintain effective operations.
Provide on-all coverage and immediate response to appropriate campus issues.
Manage the overall performance, productivity and operations of the Campus Host, Dispatch and Patrol team. Partner with Human Resources to assist with staffing and disciplinary actions for the Campus Safety Department.
Develop training programs for the Campus Safety Hosts, Patrol and Dispatch teams.
Partner with Human Resources in the recruitment process for vacant positions.
Operations
Oversee compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Performs maintenance on security systems at each building with the guidance and consultation of security vendors.
Complete weekly, monthly and annual reports.
Submit the monthly payroll allocation report and ensure bi-weekly compliance with all payroll-related administrative matters.
Drive and resolve Workday issues.
Supervise and direct investigations on vehicle accidents, missing property, theft, trespass, vandalism, burglary, larceny and other crimes; ensure preparation of necessary reports, and coordinate with local authorities as appropriate.
Provide oversight for the security of all Academy buildings - Academic and Residential.
Additional Tasks:
Remain informed and provide general guidance regarding University campuses and publications.
Coordinate and identify staffing levels for special event coverage.
Enhance the awareness of AAU Teams internally and throughout the University community.
Maintain the Building Guide content and make updates as needed.
Maintain and update the Campus Safety Manual.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Campus Safety and Lab Resources.
Assist the Executive Director of Campus Safety as requested.
Compensation:
$70,000 - $90,000 annually based on experience
This is an on-site position in San Francisco.
