QBE is seeking a CONUS UC VMOD Engineer. The exact location for this assignment is TBD but will require long-term extensive CONUS TDY followed by potential for full remote.


The successful candidate will join our team of engineers and integrators to provide innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. You will travel to various CONUS sites to implement approved solutions, provide your direct expertise, and work hands on with clients, local area network operations center, on-site managers, and program teammates. You will provide support to designing, planning and building communications networks, configuring routers, switches and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.

The UC VMOD Engineer typically conducts tasks such as:

  • Develop site survey templates and participate in site surveys to document and assess existing voice system, inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) capabilities and capacity potential to support VOIP solution.
  • Serve as the Survey Team Lead responsible for ensuring a complete and accurate survey.
  • Document survey results and findings through the development of diagrams, connectivity tables, equipment inventories and written descriptions.
  • Work with Project Lead Engineer and Architect Staff to develop a VOIP solution that maximizes the reuse of exiting equipment and complies with DoD, Army, and I3MP guidance, regulations, policies and standards.
  • Support the acquisition of hardware and software through the development of a List of Materials (LOM) for each site.
  • Plan network layouts according to the user environment.
  • Develop preliminary and critical design documentation in support of key project milestones.
  • Support the project and/or program manager as Technical Advisor during meetings as required.
  • Coordinate LAN/WAN hardware and software improvements and/or enhancements, then plan implementation of enhancements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
  • Monitor the network utilizing industry leading technologies.
  • Perform network and administration duties and provide training to junior engineers or customer staff.

Requirements:


  • Candidate must demonstrate minimum two years Cisco Call Manager experience, either in their present role or ended within the last two years
  • Candidate must demonstrate minimum two years' CUCM version 11.0 experience (any higher version also acceptable)
  • Candidate must have CURRENT CCNP Collaboration certification OR CURRENT CCIE Certification (any type acceptable)
  • Candidate must have CURRENT DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (any higher version also acceptable)
  • Candidate must have Secret clearance (any higher level also acceptable)
  • Candidate must be willing to travel up to 75% for the first 6-8 months of employment
    • Travel will be up to 60 days at a time, with 2-3 week remote from home intermissions between assignments
    • Role is anticipated to transition to full-time remote from home following the initial 6-8 month travel requirements
