Job Description:

The Assistant Equal Opportunity Officer will advise and assist the Institutional Equity Officer in matters relating to the implementation and maintenance of a university program, including preparing Affirmative Action Plans.  


Other Duties:



  • Gathers, compiles, analyzes, and interprets data necessary for external (government) and internal EEO compliance, reporting, and monitoring. Data includes but is not limited to recruitment, hiring, terminations, promotions, disciplinary actions, salaries, applicant flows, and transfers.

  • Oversees and monitors campus searches for full-time faculty, executive officers, and academic administrators. Responds to inquiries from hiring managers, search committees, and administrators, Human Resources, and members of the university community related to the search process, AA/EEO issues, and departmental procedures and policies. Provides solutions and guidance including referrals to appropriate offices. Assists with developing standards for consistent guidance and responses based on university and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Plans, completes, and files required EEO and/or Affirmative Action reports and documentation with government agencies. Provides recommendations for updating the University's Affirmative Action Plan and EO policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for training for faculty and staff on Affirmative Action Plan implementation and faculty recruitment for the Norman campus.

  • Performs administrative support and other duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree, AND:



  • 36 months of experience in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months of experience.

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff

  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
