Job Summary The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is committed to promoting a culture of organizational well-being, and cultivating a psychologically safe environment for the faculty, staff, trainees, and learners in the college. This position will be located in the Office for Organizational Well-Being and will report to the Assistant Dean, Director of Organizational Well-Being.

The major functions of the Organizational Development Specialist are to 1) manage and implement organizational well-being initiatives within clinical departments, research departments, the Office of Medical Education and Graduate Medical Education, 2) facilitate group coaching, individual coaching, and other development opportunities that enhance emotional intelligence and interpersonal/interprofessional growth

The Organizational Development Specialist should be prepared to engage and contribute to the college’s mission, vision, and values to foster an environment that is supportive of all faculty, residents, fellows, and learners.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work on a team
  • Honesty, integrity, excellent judgment, and a passion for creating and sustaining an organizational culture that supports the well-being of residents, fellows, learners, and faculty.
  • The ability to work with a varied group of residents, fellows, learners, clinical faculty, non-clinical faculty, and Advanced Practice Providers
  • Commitment to humanism and professionalism
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred (e.g., organizational psychology, leadership development, organizational development).
  • Credentialed coach through the International Coaching Federation (coaching certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire).
  • Previous experience working in healthcare.
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated and established a reputation for integrity, discretion, honesty, and good judgment.
  • Strong listening/coaching skills including assessing authenticity and articulating appropriate feedback.
  • Strong facilitation/presentation and networking/collaboration skills to build and maintain beneficial relations, especially with related functions.
  • Capacity to work effectively when under pressure, in ambiguous and complex situations whether individually or as part of a regular or ad hoc team.
  • Self-directed and able to determine the appropriate course of action with limited supervision, including excellent time management, project planning, and management.
