Required License/Registration/Certification None
Physical Requirements Job-related travel including overnight stays; visiting clientele at sites throughout the county (including farms); standing/walking for long periods; handling of average-weight objects up to 25 lbs.
Shift Monday-Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) with evenings and weekends as needed. Most weeks will exceed 40 hours.
Job Summary Extension Agent for Digital Literacy and Equity – Northern Kentucky Area

Location: Burlington, KY and surrounding area

This position is currently funded for a maximum of 2 years.

The Extension Agent for Digital Literacy and Equity will:
  • develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on regionally identified needs which will lead to improved quality of living for families and individuals
  • develop, lead, and/or teach educational programs focused on digital access, digital competency, and digital equity
  • use proven, research-based teaching methods to instruct community members on these areas
  • implement educational programs which strengthen communities, families, and individuals

This position will serve all clientele ensuring that all youth and adults have an equal opportunity to participate in Extension programs regardless of race, color, ethnic origin, national origin, creed, religion, political belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, marital status, genetic information, age, veteran status, or physical or mental disability.

All agents in a county will support the dissemination of useful and practical information on subjects relating to Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H and Community and Rural Development as outlined in the KRS statues 164.605 to 164.675.

State law requires a national and state criminal check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a check of child abuse and neglect records as a condition of employment or involvement in this program.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with groups and individuals and through mass media. Ability to use the computer for program delivery and management. Ability to visit clientele at sites throughout the county. Ability to plan and teach educational programs. Demonstrated leadership and ability to serve as a positive role model.

Preferred Education/Experience Experience in community engagement, outreach programs, or working with underserved communities; proficiency in providing technical support and assistance to individuals with varying levels of technological skills; experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and barriers to digital access and literacy; knowledge of common software applications, internet usage, basic troubleshooting, and coding; ability to adapt to changing circumstances and the evolving needs of the community.
