Position Summary:

The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Lecturer in Teacher Education with a focus on elementary/middle level mathematics teaching methods. Candidates must be qualified to teach the Elementary - Middle Level Mathematics I and II courses, observe students during practicum placements in elementary and middle level math and science classrooms, and teach Professional Education courses such as Instructional Design and Assessment.

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position with an anticipated start date of August 26, 2024. Salary range of $40,000 - $43,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach multiple courses including Elementary - Middle Level Mathematics I and II along with Math/Science Practicum and Professional Education courses. The typical teaching load is 15 credits per semester.
  • Utilize current best practices in teacher education to support student learning in the classroom and PK-12 classroom placements.
  • Complete course embedded assessments of program student learning outcomes.
  • Effectively interact and collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues within the School of Education, across campus, and in partner PK-12 schools to complete program tasks and goals.
  • Complete relevant trainings related to teaching.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Education, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.
  • Three or more years teaching experience in grades K through 12.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate education for pre-service teachers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues from the School of Education, across campus, and partner PK-12 schools.
