Purchasing Manager
Responsibilities: • Purchases all bulk and bag ingredients for production. • Categorize and list all raw products by volume (High, Mid or Low) and communicate that list to the president of the company monthly. • Negotiate raw ingredient pricing on a regular basis (High Volume Items Monthly. Mid Volume Items Quarterly and Low Volume Items Semi-Annually). • Communicate negotiated pricing (Before / After) to president of the company monthly. • Updating pricing in software system on all purchases. • Responsible for negotiating contracts with vendors as well as reviewing product quality and delivery times to ensure vendors are complying with their contract. • Work closely with QA department when looking to purchase a product from new vendor. • Study the market to identify price trends and future availability of materials and goods. • On a monthly basis, update the president of the company on trends and availabilities. • Update and replace vendors based upon performance, service and pricing. Update president of the company on all changes monthly. • Prepare all requisitions and purchase orders per company policy. • Maintain all purchasing records, digitally and with paper. • Maintain logistics and all supply chain management to ensure proper stock of ingredients and packaging materials. • Work in partnership with all departments to ensure that all goals and objectives are met. • Communicates with bookkeeper via e-mail, raw product pricing changes so formulas can be costed out, on a regular and timely basis. • Communicates with warehouse & Q/A expected deliveries daily. • Communicates with production manager to determine ingredients on hand, inventory needed and blending projections for the week. • Works in partnership with the receiving department to ensure quantities received match the purchase order. Reconciles the differences.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a purchasing manager or similar role. Bonus if you have food manufacturing purchasing experience!
Proficiency in Microsoft Office modules is required.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data effectively.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.

Purchasing experience in the food processing industry.
