Job Description Summary



As a starch/slurry attendant you will be responsible for disposing of all plant process and packaging waste; the storage and unloading of oil; and the optimizing of starch production.



Job Description



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):




  • Load and unload starch, slurry, and oil trucks.


  • Drive Hyster to dump totes and perform cleanup of loadout pad and area.


  • Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.


  • Maintain accurate Baume' readings and check starch levels every hour.


  • Check all motors to see that they are running. Includes ascending/descending stairs to clarifier catwalk and to filter cake and hopper bins catwalk to check levels.


  • Clean starch tanks, floors, and catwalks by peeler incline belts.


  • Clean waste treatment area including truck bin load-out floors, oil tank floors, vacuum drum floors and area.




OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Collect QA waste samples.


  • Obtain depth reading of solids in clarifier.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.




REASONING ABILITY:


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but un-involved written or oral instructions.


  • Ability to deal with problem situations.




CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


  • Valid driver's license required.


  • Certified to drive Hyster.




OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:


  • Tools and equipment used: shovel, hose, Hyster, tractor, and dump truck on occasion.




PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to work while standing for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to work independently without a lot of supervision.


  • Must be able to discern the time to communicate problems to the lead or supervisor.

QUALIFICATION PERIOD: Not to exceed 45 shifts.
