Field Service Technician to perform customer site visits for new equipment installation and post install servicing of the equipment. Visits shall involve pre-installation to installation and startup to providing training and instructing customer operators and maintenance teams on the safeties and the function of the equipment plus include all post install support including technical support, providing any needed service work of the equipment including emergencies and planned maintenance/upgrades. To assist and aid Engineering and Sales in connection with company line of equipment. Work shall be documented and presented in connection with all installation, service work and for the calls received to assist in troubleshooting issues.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

Inspect installation and supervise equipment startups and upgrades for new and aftermarket projects along with conducting training for the production and maintenance teams

Field service calls to diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues and make repairs such as adjustments, parts replacements and to the timing and synchronization of equipment.

Complete Lease or PRoCARE service visits to perform site activities as defined to meet the agreement and of the site management objectives.

Assist parts department in handling telephone communications with customer concerning service orders.

Communicate with customers concerning problems and advice.

Work with Sales, Engineering, or Manufacturing regarding field requests. Advise of service problems that indicate design or manufacturing deficiencies and the like.

Make suggestions and recommendations tending to improvements or necessary modifications.

Notify customers in writing as to safety deficiencies observed on the equipment during a service call.

Follow up on action required after phone conversation or in plant visit.

5%

Promote Service Agreements/parts sales.

5%

Promote good customer relations.

5%

Occasional Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Requirements:

A working background with knowledge of PLC, control circuit wiring, electro-pneumatic systems, PID controller and computer-based programs. Trouble shooting skills and a solid mechanical knowledge of motors, hydraulics and pneumatics. A minimum of two years in the required field as mentioned. High school graduate. Two years tech schools or equivalent is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:

A strong background working with and troubleshooting computer-based industrial control equipment in the food industry. Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics. A solid mechanical knowledge of servo axis control, conveying, hydraulics and pneumatics. A minimum of two years in the required field as mentioned.

Scope of Responsibility/Accountability:

Explain the degree of supervision/guidance, procedures/ processes used, judgement, creativity, planning & resourcefulness needed to do the job.

Supervisory Responsibility:

May have occasional indirect reports such as Road Crew or Contractors on site. This could vary from one to six people for installation and re-building of equipment.

Internal contacts with Engineering, Product Managers, Project Managers, Manufacturing Dept., Parts Dept., Sales Dept. Sales Support Dept., and other Service Techs. and Service Managers. These are all necessary to provide information for completion of routine assignments. External contacts will be the end user of the product, routinely Plant Mgrs. Maintenance Mgrs. and staff, Production Mgrs. and staff, Sanitation Mgrs. and staff. Contact is necessary for scheduling the installation and servicing of equipment as well as training those individuals for operation, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment supplied by JBT.

Work Environment:

Majority of work will be confined to factory type environment. Some work as found at pre-construction environment. Working conditions are as those found in process plants where portioning, cooking and freezing equipment is in use. Travel can be 70% to 80% of work time and not restricted to the North America Region.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands as would be found in factory work. Heavy lifting is not routinely required. Maneuvering around new construction sites and factory sites consisting of multiple stories is routine.
