Position Summary

Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept The Hatfield School of Government is one of three schools located in the College of Urban and Public Affairs. The School offers undergraduate and graduate-level instruction in Criminology and Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Public Administration. The Hatfield School of Government is actively engaged in the important public policy issues of the day. The School includes 27 full time faculty, a large number of adjunct faculty, 14 degree programs including the Ph.D., three academic unit, two centers and a number four Institutes :https://www.pdx.edu/hatfield-school/
Position Summary The Public Administration (PA) Administrative Program Assistant will have primary responsibility for supporting multiple Masters programs in the Public Administration Department, as well as associated Interdisciplinary programs and Graduate Certificates.

In addition to the Graduate programs, the position will also help with coordination of the Department’s Undergraduate programs. The PA Administrative Program Assistant supports program development; recruitment and student process management from admissions through graduation; and takes lead responsibility in all data management required for NASPA accreditation.

The PA Administrative Program Assistant works with faculty, staff, students, alumni, board members, and community partners to assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of PA programs and projects. This 1.0 FTE, 12-month appointment reports directly to the Department Chair, as well as works closely with the Department Manager and staff across the Hatfield School of Government.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.

Note:
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; AND Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.

  • Prior experience in project coordination and completion.

  • Understanding of the mission of the University and services to students, faculty and the public.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality required for work with student, faculty records.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills: ability to prioritize work and maintain a level of consistency and attention to quality of work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree and 3 years related experience OR Masters degree and 1 year related experience

  • Experience working in higher education.

  • Working knowledge of Banner, CollegeNet, and Cognos/Datamaster.

Work Days/Hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement The starting salary rate for this position will be between $18.57 and $21.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependant at any of the Oregon University System schools :https://www.pdx.edu/human-resources/benefits-overview
