Location/Division Specific Information



This position supports the QC Finished Product team for our Quality Control group in Cincinnati, Ohio.



How will you make an impact?



As Supervisor, QC - Dissolution, you will lead a group of scientists who conduct testing of pharmaceutical in-process samples, finished products, and stability samples in a cGMP analytical laboratory. You will support the release of prescription drug products impacting treatment and quality of life for patients throughout the world by interacting with internal and external clients to set timelines, understand work requests, define and resolve technical issues, assign and distribute work, and communicate results.



What will you do?



  • Provide leadership to assigned staff by performing the following: leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; encouraging relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.

  • Provide technical leadership in the application of analytical sciences of customers' pharmaceutical products.

  • Train new hires on department processes, procedures and tools.

  • Lead Phase I Investigations (OOS), CAPAs, and Audit Observations and actively work to ensure that all are completed by the due date.

  • Interact with auditors/clients during visits and tours.

  • Provide support to site Safety initiatives.

  • Maintain an orderly and safe laboratory environment.


How will you get there?




Education



Bachelor's degree in physical science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology. Master's or PhD degree in Chemistry preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and meaningful work experience may be considered.



Experience



Minimum of 2 years laboratory leadership experience, or a minimum of 5 years as an individual contributor analytical scientist (analytical development or quality control)



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities



  • Expert knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses via HPLC and Dissolution techniques.

  • Excellent understanding of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and logical approach to solving scientific problems.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write standard operating procedures and policy manuals.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret results for data trending. Ability to write investigations into OOS or OOT data.

  • Ability to respond to sophisticated inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to apply mathematical operations, to such tasks as determination of test reliability, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.

  • Ability to mentor junior team members.
