The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day production process from start to finish with respect to staffing, training, planning work, etc. You will report directly to the Plant Manager and lead a team of salaried employees within operations, collaborating with business partners throughout the plant, to ensure quality product is being produced efficiently and on time in a safe environment.

  • Drive a culture of proactive safety thinking ensuring achievement of safety goals and initiatives and compliance with all local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to motivate successful completion of goals and objectives through clear expectations, direction, and coaching for supervision and workforce. Continuously develop front-line leadership staff to ensure standards for safety, product quality, equipment and employee performance are maintained.
  • Set and review production KPIs with process technicians, production supervisors & direct reports. Ensure the appropriate action plans are developed and implemented to correct variances and meet targets.
  • Communicate to senior leadership as needed, functional departments, and any other internal customers to accurately plan and manage the short-range and long-range schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to the quality management system and foster a culture that wins customers by delivering high-quality products consistently.
  • Assist in establishing productivity measures for each process area and help develop and review production and cost variance reports to resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimal cost and prevent operational delays.
  • Participate in monthly and annual budgeting process and be prepared to justify expenditure requests by working with Plant Controller, senior leadership, and internal partners to develop sound business plans for capital expenditures; and review capacity reports based on sales forecast and assist with determining staffing needs.
  • Utilize lean and/or continuous improvement methodologies to identify and facilitate process improvements that lead to sustainable on time delivery performance and lead time and waste reduction.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree with a minimum 5 years' progressive work experience including people, project, or account management with leadership and influencing skills required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in flexible packaging, converting, print manufacturing, supply chain/operations environment, or related field.
  • Experience with statistical methods and analysis.
  • Extensive experience in lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Budget planning and P/L exposure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively one on one and in small groups. Easily articulates ideas and needs, so people at all levels can understand both verbal and written.
  • Highly organized and self-directed with an ability to prioritize projects combine with the ability to provide and receive direction.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with an aptitude to quickly absorb new procedures and new industry advancement.
