Job Description:

One year contract, likely to extend & convert after 12-18 months

The Public Involvement Specialist will lead communication and public outreach initiatives for electrical upgrades supporting renewable energy development in New Jersey. This involves creating and executing strategic communication plans to ensure client success.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate communication and public involvement activities for multi-year permitting, siting, and construction projects.
  • Develop and implement project communication strategies and public outreach plans.
  • Engage with stakeholders affected by construction activities, manage public commitments, and act as the liaison between project managers, contractors, and the public.
  • Provide client service by resolving issues, delivering information updates, and promoting a positive public image.
  • Execute strategic outreach plans, including newsletters, fact sheets, website content, information lines, news releases, public meetings, open houses, comment forms, mailing lists, and responses to public inquiries.
  • Assist with material development, event logistics, public meeting participation, public inquiry logging, and data management.
  • Provide graphic support for promotional initiatives.
  • Manage and distribute reports in a Stakeholder Management System.
  • Organize and manage project information files and coordinate the exchange of outreach information with project managers and clients.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 25% within New Jersey.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, environmental studies, or a related field from an accredited program.
  • 3 to 10 years of professional experience.
  • Prior internship or related experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information to the public.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage priorities and schedules, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with design/presentation software is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet the company's vehicle driving standards as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
