Distribution Planning Engineer

In the US we emphasize providing professional engineering and consulting services to the sectors of Power, Petrochemical, Astronomy, Research Test Facilities and general Manufacturing. We are currently expanding operations in the Northeast in Power Transmission and Distribution sector.

Responsibilities:
• Perform distribution planning studies including load addition studies, load growth studies, DER interconnection studies, voltage optimization, volt-var and smart inverter studies, contingency analyses, and N-1 studies.
• Identify expected system impacts from load additions or from the interconnection of distributed energy resource technologies and determine appropriate cost-effective mitigation measures.
• Perform technical reviews for distribution planning studies performed by other engineering staff and provide feedback and ensure high quality deliverables.
• Provide technical advisory services especially for distribution engineering practices, processes, and technologies, and distributed energy resources.
• Communicate with clients and ensure client expectations are met and managed properly.
• Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
• Capable of learning and developing to independently execute on assigned tasks.
• Assists in developing tools, templates, processes, and procedures that enhance engineering study completion.

Qualifications:
• 5 to 8+ years of distribution planning experience
• Distribution modeling software experience in at least one software platform (preferably CYME)
• Strong technical skills and understanding.
• Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks.
• Flexible with the ability to manage change and adapt to new challenges.
• Have high standards on producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride.
• Strong technical/report writing skills.
• Preferable to have computer programming skills (Python, C++, Java, etc.)
