Role Summary: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, and optimizing automation equipment and tooling. Your work will adhere to industry standards while incorporating creativity and practical engineering practices. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll create detailed 3D models, validate design concepts, and ensure seamless integration with electrical, controls, and software components.



Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

• Create mechanical systems and components for automation manufacturing equipment.


• Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) to develop detailed designs.

Conceptualization:

• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project managers to define design requirements based on project specifications.


• Ensure alignment with manufacturing goals.

Prototype and Testing:

• Develop and validate design concepts through functional testing.


• Prepare technical drawings and 3D models.

Design Optimization:

• Continuously evaluate and enhance mechanical designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.


• Adhere to industry regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOM).


• Track design change records.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs seamlessly.


• Coordinate with electrical, controls, and software engineers.

Vendor Management:

• Liaise with external vendors and suppliers to source high-quality components.


• Review quotations and ensure timely delivery for prototype construction and manufacturing.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.


• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction in mechanical design methodologies.

Education and Skills:

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in mechanical design.


• Strong proficiency in CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.


• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing principles and commercial technology.


• Familiarity with assembly, machining, and welding processes.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.


• Strong organizational skills for handling multiple projects simultaneously.
