Job Description Summary
Job Purpose
The QA Senior Specialist provides support, supervision, technical assistance and scheduling to Team Leader Quality and team, members. As a quality assurance professional, he or she is involved in all aspects of quality and working with operations personnel on quality and safety issues, inspecting returned and incoming products, Reports to the Team Leader Quality, with a dotted line to the Shift Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
Works directly with operations personnel on quality, food safety and safety issues
Provides training and technical assistance to QA personnel on shift
Monitors and verifies adherence to CCPs on shift
Conducts GMP and Sanitation audits on a regular basis
Places product on hold, release or disposition as necessary while adhering to policy and procedure
Evaluates damaged products
Works in conjunction with TLQ regarding shift QA manning
Completes analytical reviews of product
Other duties as assigned
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Position Requirements
BS Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or other related degree preferred. Education may be substituted for years of experience
3-5 years related experience required preferably in the food industry
Complete understanding of Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe practices and procedures
Complete understanding of HACCP Plans
Understanding of government regulations (FDA, USDA)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks
Proficient computer skills
Physical Environment/Demands:
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, twist, and turn frequently.
Exposed to outdoor and indoor environments that vary from hot to cold, exposure for up to 14 hours per work day, including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells, and allergies
Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead and in or under the equipment.
Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and in high places to perform job duties-the ability to operate work-related equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders to enter equipment regularly.
