Your Role:


Merck is seeking a Marketing Communications Manager for the Life Science Services (LSS) Commercial team. This role will report to the Life Science Services Head of Marketing Communications. The Marketing Communications Manager will have a passion for creating effective campaign content and engaging with the scientific community to drive business success.


The ideal, results-oriented candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing integrated omnichannel communications strategies and account-based marketing (ABM) programs in cooperation with marketing and commercial teams. Must be highly organized, flexible, thrive in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, be willing to collaborate with other areas where needed and handle multiple projects with tight deadlines.


Should understand the business objectives, corporate culture and be able to keep up with evolving priorities.


Operating across our global and matrixed structure, the Marketing Communications Manager will blend business analysis and marketing expertise with a passion for uncovering client-centric growth opportunities in a dynamic and complex market.



Your Role:

• Partner with the strategic marketing teams within the different LSS business units to develop robust marketing plans and impactful comms plans to engage with our customers.
• Develop frameworks and guardrails for campaign management, annual comms strategies/plans, branding, events, customer activation and internal / external communication.
• Develop insightful and actionable campaign analysis to provide inputs into marketing and comms plans development to ensure profitable growth (measuring and reporting success and impact of comms campaigns).
• Provide guidance to specific marketing programs to enable effective brand management, customer activation and communication.
• Analyze and benchmark own vs. competitor's marketing and communication activities.
• Plan and execute a variety of events, such as networking events, demo days, pitch competitions, and high-level conferences, targeting diverse audiences.
• Act as point of contact for questions related to brand, marketing, customer activation and communication from LSS stakeholders.
• Collaborate with branding, media and creative agencies.

Your skills:

• Master's degree in communication, marketing, business administration or similar field
• Profound work experience (9+ years) and proven track record in marketing, customer activation, communication, and/or change management.
• Ideally, broader experience with diverse business functions such as sales, customer experience, internal comms, business development etc.
• Ability to develop strategies and frameworks, transform into actionable steps and ensure their implementation across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and project management skills
• Excellent stakeholder management & influencing capabilities.
• Proactive mindset and change agent attitude as well as a collaborative spirit and strong team orientation
• Structured working mode and ability to handle competing priorities.
• Fluent English language skills.



Preferred Qualifications:

• Global / regional scope experience a plus.
• Previous Agency experience a plus.
• Experience working with scientific products on a global scale preferred.
• SFDC marketing & sales cloud knowledge preferred.
• Ability to present complex analytical information in clear, concise, and compelling manner to leadership to inspire action.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated, independent learner, passionate about marketing communications and able to work autonomously.
• Experience working under a challenging/complex branch architecture a plus.
• Willingness to travel globally (up to 15%)
