The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Hemodialysis/Dialysis Unit


Why This Role Is Important?


Nephrology practice includes the care of patients with impairment of renal function associated with complex diseases and disabilities. Treatments are provided in the following settings: a) eight station special care Hemodialysis Unit, b) Transplant Unit, c) Intensive Care Unit (s) (medical, surgical, neuro, pediatric, and cardiac) the patient's room if deemed medically necessary.


Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists multi-disciplinary health care team by assisting patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, obtaining EKGs. Must be able to work rotating day/evening shifts and every other Saturday. Patient Care Associate (PCA) opportunity is currently available on Bigelow 10, Dialysis Unit.


Skills


PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, Patient transport to varies destination, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications

Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.


Preferred: Licensed, certified or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR


Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
