Industrial automation specialist


Delta Star Inc. is seeking Industrial Automation and Process Data Control Specialist for its corporate Operations Development team to drive and sustain business growth as part of the company strategy. Our purpose is to work together on the common mission of providing peace of mind through reliably connecting those around us to one of life's most basic needs - electricity.


Locations: Lynchburg, Virginia, San Jose, California, or Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec



Position Scope:


Member of the Operational Excellence team supporting continuous improvement of production processes. Working closely with factories management and manufacturing teams to specify, develop new and modify existing processes, equipment, and tools.

Acts as a liaison between product design engineering and production teams, supporting new solution implementation, industrial automation and data gathering for analyses and operation optimization.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates existing and develops new processes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Develop codes and program dashboards for operators and supervisors.
  • Work with company IT to select software and hardware compatible with existing infrastructure.
  • Using available technology to connect various sources of data that may include production, design and financial input.
  • Prepare or update manufacturing data gathering procedures.
  • Define, Measure, Process and Analyze data to Implement and Control Improvements.
  • Evaluates, suggests, and implements manufacturing improvement projects by setting objectives, action plans and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensures compliance with Quality and Efficiency standards.
  • Report to management on progress of projects, processing standards and implementation return on investment (R.O.I.)
  • Limited travel required (10-20%) to collect data, participate in project meetings and prepared designs for factories located in the United States and Canada.
  • Performs other duties assigned by immediate supervisor.

Education, Training

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial and/or Business Analysis /Software Engineering or equivalent job experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL and PowerBI to automate data collection and analysis.
  • Skills to develop solutions in PowerApps, Power Automate
  • Good knowledge of SharePoint with ability to develop forms and list to automate process flow.
  • Programing knowledge in Phyton or a similar computer language

Work Experience

  • Basic knowledge of ERP system, knowledge of the D365 will be an asset.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working or related internships with projects completed that were focused on similar tasks.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience, Six Sigma Green Belt, or ability to obtain that as part of a training on lean methods.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels internally, customers and suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
